So, as mentioned previously, we have that list of ‘must haves’, ‘would be nice’, and ‘absolutely nots’. The main thing on the first list is, either a garage big enough for his work/projects, or enough land that we can build one as soon as possible. If we did not have that main thing that we have to have, we could have had many houses already. We are not opposed to one or the other, we will be thankful for what we are able to find and purchase.
We both absolutely want an older farmhouse, with that homey feel. The coziness of the wide-planked wood floors, with maybe a throw rug for visual appeal and some variety in pattern. The large kitchen with deep sinks, all wood cabinets, the long table that is big enough for our family (and maybe yours too), a good amount of windows for all that natural light. At least one cozy nook for reading – sitting with a good friend for a chat, even some built-in shelves would be a nice touch for some books, a few photos, and maybe a few hand-drawn pictures from the nieces and nephews. Enough bedrooms for us, then a few extra for some visitors as they might like to……. Open beams throughout the house, the stairs that make you feel like a kid again, and that wonderful wide front door that just begs you to walk through it and visit for an hour, a day, or a week.
Yes, that is what our wish list for the house consists of. There are some things on that list that would be more desires and goals rather than requirements. At some point in life we will have that and maybe more. Right now, just enough will do.
We have not looked at another house in a few weeks, only because we don’t want to just look at houses for the sake of looking at them. Since we are searching for our home, we want to use our time wisely and well thought out as possible.
There is a house that we are very interested in. However, we do not want to delve too deep into the money hole. So we will see how the offer, counter-offer, and whatnot goes. God is in control and we trust Him totally. Knowing that is such a huge weight that we don’t have to carry, which is so comforting!
Yesterday we got our confirmation of the loan amount that we can be approved for, however, we do not plan on maxing that out. With me starting a new job, and other things in the making, planning, progress we are wanting to take things at a steady pace! The houses within our budget are nice, there are some that we would need to put some TLC into, which neither of us are opposed to, however, that would mean that we would most likely come down in the asking price (we need to have some money to play with).
All of the paperwork that needs to be gotten ready for the mortgage… Wow. The last three years worth of tax returns, W2s, copies of valid IDs, marriage license, bank statements, pay stubs, and a few other items… I was a little overwhelmed with the task of finding the paperwork, not his, mine. As I moved and most of my things are still in boxes in two different rooms of the house we currently are living in. I prayed and specifically asked God to lead me to the right box on the first try, and VWALA! He answered the prayer of my overwhelmed heart! God is so good and faithful!
So now that we have all of the paperwork together that is needed, we just have to get it to the broker. The person we are dealing with is actually a great person. They are very helpful so far and they seem to know what they are doing. Now, to decide what house we will put our offer in. Woohoo!!!!!!
